Since Mozart is still in care of our trusted mechanic Diego without anything we can contribute at the moment, we decided to get on a bus on explore Medellín for a couple of days. Among all the 'cities of eternal spring' in the world, this one deserves its nickname. Bland climate, incredible green and never resting. Since we're planning to come back anyway once Mozart is ready, we keep Medellín's surroundings to a later trip once we're more mobile.
Medellín accumulates a lot of Colombia's wavering history. Being a social hotspot it had huge issues until mid of the 2000s, not least because of drug trafficking and lack of perspective for many inhabitants, also migrants from rural areas fleeing civil war. But that changed and is nowhere displayed as profoundly as in the famous Comuna 13. This neighbourhood is nowadays a bohemian hotspot, filled with (street-)art, dance and music. We enjoyed a beautiful day there being guided through its many secrets, admiring stunning street art, visiting the impressive gallery of local artist Dufer Sandrine Florez Toro (see pictures below) and getting a personal dance show by Skill Flavor.
Apart of this we just spent a lot of time walking through Poblado, watching Medellín's city life and, what else, eating delicious food. Looking forward to be back!
