You might ask: 'Guys, for a journey you're stuck quite long at one spot!'
Jep, you're right. That wasn't really a well planned decision. The huge difference between travelling and holidays is, that when travelling a lot of unforeseen might happen. We bought Mozart and are still happy we did, but ... what can we say? Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the tree. We're more like tree-guys. Mozart is an amazing car, but after thousands of kilometres on South American roads and digging deeper into his guts with our amazing mechanic Diego, we found more and more issues. Furthermore the casita's interior required a ramp-up urgently. And that's what we are doing now.
We brought Mozart to Zona Cafetera for a good reason: the best possible spot for getting stuck (even if back then we didn't know how long that would be). Anyway, we are advancing and will hopefully be ready to sky-rocket this hell of a vehicle soonest.
The picture below was taken on a very special day. During mid day on one of Pereira's main roads, our engine overheated all of a sudden. We didn't only stuck in the traffic, others got stuck because of us. We created a huge traffic jam with a bunch of cars honking. In this stressful situation, Colombia showed its most beautiful face (not referring to the army of angry honking cars). First a bus driver came to help us, filled our radiator with water so we could make it some blocks to a workshop. A passing lady shouted at us she knows who can help, we should just follow her. So we ended up in a workshop without any spare meter we could go, ready to be completely exploited. But no, nobody took advantage of our situation. Three guys welded like maniacs for 3 hours, while we were introduced to the mechanic's wife, his daughters and his dog. By the end of the day, our radiator was better than before.
Thanks 'El Flaco' for giving the best support there could have been in this shitty situation!!
